I finally found the miraculous inspiration to come up with a brand, logo, whatnot, and then apply it to my network of sites.
For some reason, lilac had been calling to me all week as I contemplated what to do. It used to be my teen-aged favorite color (early childhood was yellow) but since college and city life, neon blue has been my color of choice. Yet for this brand; lilac with black and white.
I started with a basic square block which is the default shape for Facebook. But both Instagram & Pinterest host circled images, so I came up with a variation on the shape.
Creating the logo
For those of you curious, the font is called ‘Harrington’. I liked that it was classy, playful, and artistic. Similar to my designs, I like to think.
Adding a motiff
I knew that I wanted a small flower within the design, and after several attempts to create one without good graphic design tools, I ended up hunting the internet for free clip art. I found instead a beautiful yet elaborate piece of art (on the left) that I was able to simplify into a somewhat original piece.
Putting it all together
A little tweaking with the lilac background and I was able to create a simple but compelling backdrop for my sites.
Branding all the sites
Then it was a matter of uploading the images to the various sites. And a bit more additional work dealing with all of the backgrounds/cover/headers images and their various sizes. Not bad.
…
Now I just need to download a label template so I can brand the gift boxes my items arrive in. Although I kinda envision them being printed with a silver metallic border. I’m likely to need to have that outsourced. OOH, I could have the flower embossed. (cuz every fledgling biz needs to waste money on metallic stickers with embossing)..
Erg, I suppose business cards may be required one day
